I am excited to be back to start this year with another lovely no sew quite book!
This quiet book for toddlers focuses on creation as told in the bible. The ideas are simple and open ended, perfect for toddlers.
Today I share with you the cover and page 1 / day 1 : LIGHT
Quiet books are best planned out before you make them. I usually use a notebook and plan each page and what I would like to do on each page. As this is a no sew quiet book for toddlers featuring the days of creation I needed 7 pages for 7 days of creation.
My most challenging page was day 1 and 7. How does one represent “light” in a quiet book?
I decided to insert a black page as page 1 in my quiet book to represent the darkness. The other 5 page are blue. The back of the cover is page 7. To see how I make this easy no sew quiet book please see my detailed tutorial.
When I made the last quiet books cover I DIY’d the cover lettering. This time I had bought a bunch of self adhesive felt lettering. score!
I cut out a little earth, moon and star to make it look the part. Then hot glued them down. The letters are self adhesive and easily peel and stick.
On my first page (left side) I have the word light for day one. My 2 year old likes to feel and trace the lettering.
On the right side I cut a large square the size of the page in white to represent “light”, added a quick little tie and while in a tied up form hot glued it to the book in the center. This secured the tie as well.
When you are telling the story your toddler can undo the tie and roll out “light”.
Let there is light! Although this is a rather simple page I think it is conveying the message.
What would you have used on this page instead?
I would love to hear your thoughts and others might like to use your idea for their book as well! Please leave me a comment.
