As I mentioned in yesterdays Christmas ornament craft we are making all the ornaments on our tree this year!
I just love these jingle bells that we made out of egg cartons!
To make these jingle bells you will need
- an egg carton to cut up to make bells
- paint and optional glitter glue
- pipe cleaners
- jingle bells
Cut up your egg carton as displayed below and trim the extra ridges till it has the desired look. I used a tooth pick to make the top holes for where the pipe cleaners will be inserted, before painting.
This is where the kids come in! We took our kids craft table outside and painted our bells blue, red, white and green. Although I didn’t land up using the green ones for the jingle bells! BUT, I have an idea to use them later in the week.
Once your paint is dry use the toothpick again to make sure the little holes are open. My boys enjoyed making these jingle bells as it is really easy!
Cut a pipe cleaner in 3, bend a little hook on one end then insert from the top of the egg carton bell downwards and secure the jingle bells by just folding the pipe cleaner upwards on the other end.
My 3 year old loved the sounds and inspected all the bells we made 🙂 The one year old just wanted to stack then all on top of each other. Maybe she was thinking about our egg carton color sorter!
My 4 year old hung them up on our little tree excitedly. I can’t wait for them to see the new (and bigger) tree next week!
The jingle bells can also be decorated with glitter glue to give that little extra shine!
Using items around the house is so much fun!
