Things to do with Color Rice!
We love our color rice and although there are a lot of crafts on the blog with the rice I must add that most of our rice lasts up to a year! So no having to make rice just to play with on a whim. Make it, play with it, then store it. Of course once it becomes rainbow rice…
Today we are making a cute little card for valentines day.
To make our color rice valentines card you will need.
- Color rice in shades of your choice. (learn how to dye color rice here)
- School glue.
- Color cardboard for the card.
- A tray or baking pan to work with the rice in.
Fold your card in half and draw a heart with the glue.
Sprinkle the first choice color on the heart and give a gentle pat to make sure it is in the glue. Tap off the excess rice and return to the storage container.
Draw a second heart in the center and repeat the sprinkling with another color rice.
My 18 month old and 3 year old were very keen helpers, they love playing with color rice!
Once again, pat down the rice in the glue and tap off excess returning to the storage container. Now it is up to you at this point to leave it as it is or add a 3rd heart. Personally I like it this way.
The 3rd heart is just a color rice color in.
The extra rice was then added to the baking tray and the little ones had some fun. They enjoyed touching and sprinkling it from high up and listening to the sound it made as it hit the metal pan.
I also got a gorgeous close up of the 3 colors of rice!
