Community Helper Preschool Learning Activities – Color Sorting
The first activity is for color sorting. The first page is broken into two groups, red and blue. The other page is full of different community helper images that are mostly the colors red and blue. Print the worksheets out and then cut all of the pictures out. Lay them in front of your child, with the sorting mat to the side. Children will go one picture at a time and place them on the sorting mat where they should go.
Community Helper Preschool Learning Activities – Counting Clip Cards
This packet also includes simple counting clip cards. You’ll need some sort of manipulative for kids to mark the correct answer. We like using pom poms. Children will look at the card, count the images and then place the manipulative on the square with the correct number.
Community Helper Preschool Learning Activities – Playdough Mats
There are two playdough mats that help represent the baker part of community helpers. Children can make either a circle or a square cookie with playdough. You could also use this mat as a cake to decorate.
Using playdough is fabulous for strengthening fine motor muscles in the hands of children. These are needed for skills such as holding a pencil, tying shoes or zipping a zipper.
All of these activities are great for preschoolers. They will have fun exploring the community helper life while learning important skills that preschoolers need to learn.
