Teach your little ones to count with Popsicle Stick Puzzles a fun arts and crafts for kids.
With this puzzle you get to paint it and play with it! My kids have been having trouble learning their numbers, I wanted to make it a simple thing to learn, so to encourage them I made it even more fun with a Popsicle stick craft!
To make this fun arts and crafts Popsicle stick puzzle you will need.
- Popsicle sticks
- Sticky tape such as painters masking tape or as I used electrical wire sealing tape. (My masking tape had vanished! That’s kids for you!)
- Some water paints
I used 10 popsicle sticks, lined them up and taped them together with the tape on either ends to create a stable surface to paint on. I made 3 sets like this, one for each of the boys to paint on and a 3rd to try myself 🙂
I let the boys have fun and paint whatever they wanted, then got some black paint and added the numbers to the sticks when they were done. I had to help my one preschooler with his apple tree puzzle. He loves apples.
Once the popsicle stick crafts numbers were painted on and the puzzle had dried I turned it over to make different color bands on the back so we could tell which puzzle set belonged to which.
The tape was then removed and we had a puzzle to play with! My 4 year old preschooler enjoyed counting his sticks and my 3 year old was more than happy to collect all the popsicle sticks that had the same patterns.
There are so many popsicle stick crafts to have fun with!
Have you seen our Kids treasure box we made? I also have some coming up in the future, so if you have not already, remember to follow by email for more fun arts and crafts!
I hope you enjoyed our popsicle stick crafts, we would love to hear what kind of pictures you think your little one would paint?

I love this idea! I made some counting popsicle sticks a little while ago too, and these would go along with them quite nicely!

What a good way to incorporate numbers learning into a craft project! We made popsicle stick puzzles last year but we used pictures to do it. Painting would be a way for the kids to be more involved in the creation of them so we may have to try that next time.
Thanks for linking up with the Tender Moments with Toddlers & Preschoolers Blog Hop!

Such a great idea! I think I will do this with my daughter but do 10’s. She can count up to 29 but then goes straight to 100, haha.

My little students have just really gotten into making things with popsicle sticks , this puzzle will be perfect for my three year old. He laughs and jokes when he knows I’m trying to teach him his numbers, the puzzle will disguise my educational goal 🙂

Love this idea, the fact that it uses the child’s own art is so great!

I have seen lots of popsicle stick puzzle ideas, but this is definitely my favorite so far. I love that you added the number aspect to it. I can’t wait to do this with my kiddos.
