Days of the Week Puzzle
With just a few simple supplies, you can make your own days of the week craft stick puzzle just like the one you see here. This activity is a budget friendly one that takes only minutes to create and can be used over and over again. Here is how to get started!
With just a few supplies, you can make this simple puzzle to help your kids learn the days of the week!
7 wide/large craft sticks
craft paint in assorted colors
paint brush
marker
As you can see, the materials used in this project are simple to find and easy to afford. You can find these materials at your local craft store and dollar store.
Begin by applying a coat of paint to each of the craft sticks. You want to use a different color for each stick so that no two sticks have the same color. Allow the paint to dry.
Once the paint is dry, use your marker to write the day on the stick. You want to write one day per stick.
To do this activity, line the sticks up so they display the days in order of the week. Allow children the chance to see the days in order and practice saying them.
Mix the sticks up so they are out of order. Allow children to move and manipulate the sticks to the correct order.
Children will identify the color with the specific day which may also help them create the appropriate order. Allow them to move the sticks until the order is correct. Recite the name of the days once the days are in order once again.
We also use craft sticks with this Learning Shapes Matching Game!
When done, you can easily take the puzzle apart and do the activity again. Once children get the hang of it, try writing the days on the unpainted side and see if kids can arrange them in order without the color clues.
When you are ready to tackle this concept, give this easy days of the week craft stick puzzle a try. It is a fun and hands on way to learn the days of the week!
