It is Playful Preschool Wednesday again! This weeks theme is all about Dinosaurs! RAWR!!
Follow the hashtag #playfulpreschool on social media, where we bring you some hands on learning for your preschooler! Also be sure to check at the bottom of this post for all the links to more ideas on this theme from my fabulous blogging friends who are also a part of this group.
I pondered long about what new thing we could explore with a dinosaur theme this week. We have previously explored dinosaur foot prints and impressions in play dough as well as made a cardboard dinosaur model.
This week I decided to make our dinosaur theme all about hunting for hidden dinosaurs! To accomplish this I used the old crayon resist trick! This is where you draw on a white sheet of paper in a white wax crayon making the drawings kind of invisible then use water color paints to paint over them to bring out the lines.
To accomplish this I needed a cute dinosaur silhouette to trace! I got mine from here.
I then printed it out and traced on top with a white wax crayon. Then it was time to head to the craft table for some dinosaur hunting!
AHH! Look we found one!
Much concentration later we found some more then an entire page full! If your little learner is very much into dinosaurs you can take turns guessing the type of dinosaur that you discovered.
I like rainbow dinosaurs myself 😉
This activity goes great accompanied by a few dinosaur books. We love National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs.
Pin this dinosaur art idea for later!
