Last month on a trip to the city I spied some foam sheets and bought a few for some crafty adventures. After looking around and asking some friends what they made with their foams I decided to try out a little puzzle for the season.
You will need:
- Foam sheets of various colors
- a cardboard backing
- cutting tools and pen
- decorating things for the final puzzle.
I started out by cutting a white sheet to A4 size as my foam was in A3. I then glued the sheet to a cardboard backing the same size to give it stability. Using a sheet of normal paper I folded it in half and drew one side of a Christmas tree. When opening the paper you will have a perfect tree. Now use the shape to cut some green foam to the tree shape.
Place your green tree on a 2nd sheet of white foam and cut around the tree shape. This way we will get a good outline and mold for our tree to fit in.
Do the same for any other items you would like to add to the puzzle. I cut out a star and some presents as well.
Once everything is cut out glue the 2nd white foam sheet to the fist to create an empty puzzle impression.
Next use a uniform item to trace shapes on the tree. I made mine interchangeable so the decorations could be rearranged. I used one of my my sons Lego blocks that just happened to be on the table.
Put the puzzle together and decorate it! We used glitter pens, pom poms, bits of tinsel and some pipe cleaners
The interchangeable ornaments are a hit!
AND I have 3 little ones wanting to play with the puzzle at the same time.

I love this idea. Going to have a go at making this for my kids next year. Might try doing an Easter themed one. Thanks for sharing 🙂
