Busy bags are always the go-to idea in my house. We have an entire drawer full of them and since a busy bag by definition, is re-usable our drawer never gets empty!
Today I wanted to add a new busy bag to our collection that focused on emotions and expressions.
Since Valentines is currently close we went with hearts but different shapes will also work.
Materials for the Emotions Busy Bag:
- Craft foam
- Yarn
- Googly eyes
- Large paperclips
- Small rubber bands
- Options buttons for nose
- Optional hair accessories
Cut out a heart shape for the base of your face. For these, I folded a sheet in half to get 2 hearts. They have to be large for all the items to fit on them!
Next prep the face features items. Cut various mouth shapes from red craft foam.
For the hair wrap yarn around your hand cut in half and use a rubber band to tie it in the middle. The long braid was made by having the yarn go from my hand to elbow then cutting and tying in the middle then braiding.
All that’s left now is to put your hearts plus the face features into a plastic zip or busy bag pouch.
Encourage the children to explore different expressions while making their faces. Sometimes though putting all the parts on a heart face happens and we simply call these silly faces! 😉
