It is #playfulpreschool Wednesday! This weeks theme is Nursery Rhymes. The focus of todays little craft is not on the outcome of the craft (ok it did turn out cute!) but more on the making, signing and talking about the nursery rhyme. We choose Mary had a Little Lamb and made her little lamb.
This has got to be one of the fastest made lambs ever!
- You will need a toilet roll of cardboard tube cut to size.
- 4 pegs for the legs
- cotton wool
- a bit of white or black foam
- 2 googly eyes
- glue, scissors and a black marker
To start cut your toilet roll / tube down the one side. This is where your child will attach the pegs for legs.
Next cover the top with glue and and stick down your cotton wool for the fleece of your lamb. Stuff the front of the tube with a bit of cotton wool too for the front and add your sheeps head complete with googly eyes and a little smile to the front with a bit of glue.
I free hand cut the foam to resemble the head. There you have it! Mary’s little lamb and some fun for the kids too.
“Mary Had A Little Lamb” Lyrics:
Mary had a little lamb,
Little lamb, little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.
Everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, Mary went,
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.
It followed her to school one day
School one day, school one day
It followed her to school one day
Which was against the rules.
It made the children laugh and play,
Laugh and play, laugh and play,
It made the children laugh and play
To see the lamb at school.
And so the teacher turned it out,
Turned it out, turned it out,
And so the teacher turned it out,
But still it lingered near.
“Why does the lamb love Mary so?”
Love Mary so? Love Mary so?
“Why does the lamb love Mary so?”
The eager children cry.
“Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know.”
the lamb, you know, the lamb, you know
“Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know.”
The teacher did reply.
Mary had a little lamb,
Little lamb, little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.

Using clothespins for legs is such a good idea! I turned out so cute.
Theresa says
I love how you made the legs with clothespins! That is really clever. I had forgotten the lyrics about the lamb loving Mary and Mary loving the lamb. I will have to each those verses to our children.
