Learning the alphabet is one of the first things that kids learn. It is crucial and the core of so much in life! Before children can read or write, they must learn the alphabet. Learning the alphabet is not only about being able to recite the letters but it’s also about identifying and forming them. This can be learned in a variety of ways including these Patriotic Letter Mats!

What Is Included?
Each page of this printable set is broken into two parts. One half is the uppercase letter while the other half is the lowercase letter. Each side has a border with a cute patriotic kid to add to the patriotic theme.
The letters are with a large bubble font. Inside the bubble is dotted lines with number bullets to show where to start and what track to follow to form the letter.
Prepping This Activity
Prepping this alphabet activity is super easy and you’ll only have to do it once!
Print out the alphabet activity sheets.
Start by using your scissors to cut each page in half, if you’d like.
Once they are cut, laminate them. This is recommended because it will increase the variety of ways these letter mats can be used, for instance with playdough. Playdough on plain paper is a disaster, believe me if you haven’t actually tried it. You could also use dry erase pockets if you don’t have a laminator.
You can use playdough on the bubble letter. Create a long snake with the playdough, then follow along the dotted lines to form the letter. The same concept can be used with dry erase markers.
If you would like, you could also use other manipulatives, like pom poms or mini erasers to fill the letter as well.
