Playing with the little ones is not all about the end goal. I share a lot of the activities and crafts we do on this blog but there are many other things that don’t get shared because we do a lot of open play.
Just like I want to share with you today. I was hoping to introduce the kids to a little craft I had in mind, I brought out the tray added the color Popsicle sticks I wanted to use and put it on the table while I went to get the glue.
I returned to find an activity already in progress.
My 4 year old was eager to play with the popsicle sticks and had already opened the packet and was making shapes and constructing in the tray.
I let him continue and praised him for his various shapes, color use and ideas.

This one below is a house. My 3 year old was more interested in breaking the craft sticks in half than anything else so I had to distract him with something else.
My 1 year old was also around and had taken a few sticks from her brothers. She used the lego blocks she was already playing with and added the craft sticks to the holes.
This turned into a great stick things in holes game for her.
I grabbed the plastic bottle I had cut a hole in the side of for this very reason after she got tired of the lego blocks for her to continue posting her craft sticks into.
Simple and unintentional fun had! LOVE IT!
