Both Harvey and my four year old were immediately engaged and enjoying themselves. It was fun watching Harvey struggle with it a little bit with a super cute look of concentration on his face. Sometimes he turned to me to help get them off of his finger, but much of the time he did it on his own.
Nicolette helped him get the stickers off the backing when he needed it. The small size stickers require very small finger movements known as fine motor skills, amazing for development (and doesn’t feel as wasteful to me). I think he would have kept going with it all day if we’d let him.
Materials:
- Sheet of stickers about the size of your thumbnail
- Paper
Stickers are a great intro to more delicate fine motor control. Either pass the stickers one by one to your child or have them remove stickers from the sticker sheet themselves and place on the paper.
I always remove the sticker paper around the stickers with gives more of an edge for children to grip on.
This idea isn’t JUST for 1 year olds!
