Taste Safe Slime Recipe
Sensory activities are so important. These activities help children explore the 5 senses: sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. The stimulation that occurs with sensory activities helps children develop things such as creativity, social and emotional skills as well as problem solving. All from slime, believe it or not.
I tried a few different recipes a few different ways. When I used just cornstarch and water it didn’t stick together much. Then when I used just daily fiber and water, my daughter didn’t like how much the slime clung to everything. We decided to add some vegetable oil so it wasn’t quite as sticky. This created the perfect consistency for her.
Materials Needed
To make our slime, we used 3 simple ingredients and you can also add food coloring if you’d like.
- 1 Tbsp Daily Fiber (100% natural psyllium husks)
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil (canola/olive oil)
- (optional) food coloring

How To Make Taste Safe Slime
To start, pour 1 cup water and 1 Tbsp Daily Fiber (100% natural psyllium husk) into a medium saucepan.
Next, stir until the fiber is mixed in and add food coloring now if you’d like.
Add 2 Tbsp vegetable oil to saucepan and turn heat on high.
Stir continuously until mixture boils.
Once boiling, continue stirring until the slime has started to stick to the sides, bottom and spoon. Now you can turn off the heat. This should happen about 30-60 seconds after the mixture is really boiling.
Pour slime on a plate or in a casserole dish to cool. Turn the slime over in about 15-30 minutes. It will take about a 30 minutes to an hour to cool completely.

Tips To Help:
Even though I wrote these instructions as I was making the taste safe slime, I thought of some tips afterwards that can help you even more.
Any cooking oil should work for this recipe. To keep it, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It should last for a few weeks.
Also, I used the real sugar Daily Fiber mix, but the sugar free should work the same. The important part is that it’s 100% psyllium husk or 100% natural psyllium husk.
You are going to love this slime recipe almost as much as your children will!
