My latest management tactic for my 3 kids (all under 5!) is to use a busy bag. I have a very small collection currently and have been trying to add busy bags as fast as I can!
My 2 year old has always been fond of sticking things in holes, as I think most do at her age, so this fine motor activity was just perfect for her.
To make these busy bags you will need:
- Smaller sized straws, these are half the size of normal ones
- one or 2 plastic bottles
My 2 year old jumped right into the activity and was putting the straws in with great concentration. I just love it when busy bags are successful! She took her time and filled the bottles happily. It was just a matter of time before her bother joined in by bringing yet another item to stick straws in.
Got straws? Make a few busy bags with items that have holes so the kids can practice their fine motor skills.
The basket below is a bit big for a busy bag but you get the idea!
