These free name tracing worksheets are perfect for preschoolers. This name learning activity also includes alternative font choices to make the name tracing printable easy and fun to use!
My five-year-old is finally showing interest in writing letters; and, boy oh boy is that learning accelerating! He seems to be a bit hung up on writing his name, though, and is still having trouble with his “R’s” and “e’s.” So, I came up with this lovely printable. Then I thought, “I bet other kids have a problem writing letters, too.” My husband helped me make this nifty little code for my blog so that my readers could also get these free name tracing worksheets totally personalized. OK, so let’s get started.

Free Name Tracing Worksheets
The free name tracing worksheets are great for your child when learning their name as well as forming those letters. Keep an eye out for future posts where I go into more detail on how to help your little ones form those letters properly.
I tried out the worksheets with each of my three kids. I love these learning resources pockets to use dry erase pens on. The kids write and remove as many times as their focus allows.
My five-year-old wrote his name six times before he lost interest. My two-and-a-half-year-old tired once and decided that drawing and erasing was simply better.
You can, of course, use the free name tracing worksheets without any sort of cover.
These educational printables are also great in a classroom setting as the letters are the perfect size for preschoolers!
I like to use these plastic pockets for a wide variety of tracing activities from working on mazes to line tracing.
Good stuff, right!? The dry erase pen is the same one we use for the whiteboard. I also have thinner pens on order for a better grip – I recommend these.

Thanks for the question. The paper should have a name on it. If you follow the link it will take you to prompts and will ask you to enter the name. Then it asks for the style you’d like. Then you can download or print it. I hope this ?

Hi. I love these printables!
I used them last year for a few of my preschoolers that were interested in writing. I’ve come back to print a couple more but the font seems to have changed.
Do you still have the ones closer to comic sans MS to print.
Please let me know & thanks again.
Jodi.

My daughter’s teacher has been using these for her preschool class! I followed the link to make one for my daughter at home so we can laminate it instead of wasting paper and ink. Thank you so much for this! <3

Thank you so much, will be using this to get my son ready for Kindergarten.
Cindy says
These worksheets are just what I needed! Try using dry erase crayons or china markers. They increase the resistance as kids write, giving sensory feedback. Markers are “slippery”. The dry erase crayons are also a good way for kids to strengthen those fine motor muscles as they erase the board.
Nicolette Roux says
That is an AWESOME idea!!!!!
Thanks!

Thank-you so much for these. I have a special needs son and these work great for teaching him to write. I also work in home daycare and they are perfect for preparing children that will be entering pre-k to write their names.
Natasha says
I have been trying to print off your name tracing printables, but when I enter the child’s name, I can’t go any further after that ?
Thanks for your attention.
Nicolette Roux says
After you entered the childs name was there a next button to click?
If you did and it still didnt work please message me your browser you use and if it is in mac/windows so I can send it in for support 😀
Amy says
Last time I printed the names of my children I didn’t have to download any extensions. There was just a box where I entered the names and it worked great! Now I have to add a name and I can’t seem to do it without downloading a file..
Thanks!
Amy
Nicolette Roux says
You enter your name in the box. Then download the image file to your computer to print.
kelly flynn says
Amy I noticed the same thing. How do I just get the tracing without downloading other content to my computer?
Nicolette Roux says
The website was created with both options. There is an option to NOT download the pdf. After you enter the name & select the font click the BLUE button that says {view/print/download} it will take you to the preview page that lets you select purple {back} or blue {view/print} or the green {download} (https://www.powerfulmothering.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/view-print.png)
Selecting the blue {view/print} will open a new page where you can directly PRINT (https://www.powerfulmothering.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/print.png) if your browser supports in-browser pdf view (like chrome & firefox).
However, browser pdf settings could override in-browser pdf view. If this is set, then it will automatically download the pdf. Only you can change this manually.
Jennifer says
These are amazing!!! Tweeting and sharing.
Christina says
Is there any way to have the name on a dotted line & the rest of the dotted lines blank so the child can
write their name on their own?
Nicolette Roux says
Sure thing! i’ll add this to the update list. its an awesome idea
