Make a Rainbow with Playdough Printable
Today’s theme is rainbows, and what better way to have a ton of fun than with a rainbow printable AND some playdough!
Start off with some rainbow colors of playdough.
Now playdough mats work best when covered in something plastic. So here instead of laminating the sheet of paper i’ve used one of my write and wipe sleeves (which I use for name tracing). I think these are great to keep on hand for simply sticking a sheet of paper in and using instead of pulling the laminator out and hunting for the laminate sheets.
Once everything is set up offer a selection of the colors in medium sized playdough balls. This is my favorite things about making a rainbow with playdough. The rolling and the estimating of the length that might be needed to cover the entire rainbow.
Your child is most likely going to reroll a few times to make it fit or pinch off extra bits.
I also use this activity to show how rolling on one end of the playdough makes it smaller than the other and that to get a good roll she will have to evenly use her fingers.
Perfect for fine motor skills!
More sizing estimation and rerolling.
Once all the colors are in, it is time to admire!
I usually leave this out for a few minutes for my child to admire her work and then put the colors back in their containers so they don’t dry out.
Using this another day is going to be just as awesome!
