Taste Safe (No Shaving Cream) Sensory Rainbow

Shaving cream is used in a lot of kids sensory play unfortunately my kids like to taste everything still and besides that, it is expensive here in Ecuador.

My solution? Cream! (or whipped cream as I think they call it)

I give you a taste safe sensory Rainbow!

taste safe sensory Rainbow!

I saw the most beautiful rainbow the other day on pinterest (where else? hehe) and decided to make one ourselves. My 4 year old seems to be very interesting in rainbows so this one was a hit!

I mixed 2 sachets of whipped cream up and scooped a tablespoon cream for each color into a dip / snack tray then added just a tooth pick coated in wiltons gel coloring and mixed so we had colors of the rainbow. I also added 2 trays of white cream for free mixing and experimenting.

It seemed logical to give the kids spoons for this job and we had a rainbow in no time at all (with a little help from me!)

My 19 month also enjoyed this sensory activity and doodled a bit on some paper with the spoon then her fingers.

The cream as expected got tasted by said toddler, a few times. My 4 year old saw this and decided that licking the spoon was a great idea and so he also tasted it.

Mixing is great fun and he very much enjoyed smudging the rainbow.

My toddler just dived in there with her hands, squishing and feeling the texture and watching the cream ooze out in between her fingers.

I am very pleased how this little activity turned out! 😀
